Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance ( メタルギア ライジング リベンジェンス , Metaru Gia Raijingu: Ribenjensu ? ) is a hack and slash game developed by Platinum Games and produced by Kojima Productions , for the PlayStation 3 , Xbox 360 and Microsoft Windows . Although a Japanese Xbox 360 version was planned, it was ultimately cancelled. [4] According to series creator Hideo Kojima, the game's story is a parallel continuation, [5] set four years after the events of Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots .

Originally announced at E3 2009 under the title Metal Gear Solid: Rising , the game went through a long development process at Kojima Productions, who struggled to fully develop the game. At the beginning of 2011, Kojima decided to hand the development of the game over to Platinum Games who revamped the entire game. This switch in developer was formally announced on December 10, 2011. Kojima was the supervising director, while Korekado from Kojima Productions and Atsushi Inaba from Platinum Games were the producers. Platinum Games' Kenji Saito directed the game. [2]

A playable demo of Metal Gear Rising is included in Zone of the Enders: HD Collection , similar to how the original Zone of the Enders contained a playable demo of Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty . The demo was also released in the Japanese PlayStation Store on December 13, 2012. It was released for the rest of the world on January 22. Due to the cancellation of the Japanese Xbox 360 version, the demo was not released on the Japanese Xbox Live, nor included in that console's Japanese version of Zone of the Enders: HD Collection .

Four years after the events of Liquid Ocelot's Insurrection , Raiden has been contracted for VIP protection, military training, and other duties by a private military company (PMC):  Maverick Security Consulting, Inc. , an American PMC based in Colorado, in a developing country piecing itself back together after a bloody civil war. Raiden largely did this to support his family without having to return to direct combat situations. Raiden is protecting a VIP , when they are attacked by a cyborg organization led by the cyborg Samuel Rodrigues , which eventually leaves Raiden completely defeated. Raiden is reconstructed by his PMC, and his search for Sam and the company he's working for, Desperado Enforcement LLC. , drives him into a quest for vengeance.

Kojima revealed that the theme for Metal Gear Rising is "REVENGE." Previous themes were "GENE" ( Metal Gear Solid ), "MEME" ( Metal Gear Solid 2 ), "SCENE" ( Metal Gear Solid 3 ), "SENSE" ( Metal Gear Solid 4 ), and "PEACE" ( Peace Walker ). Revenge would later be reused in part for the game Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain .

The plot of A Taxing Woman is interesting/enthralling, regardless of the production date or language of the film. Watching tax evasion cases unfold is surprisingly interesting, presented in a manner that shows the more human side of government organizations. (OK, if not the 'human side', at least you get to see what it's like on the inside.) From a cultural perspective, a 1980s Tokyo is also interesting, with shots of the cityscape, pachinko parlors, love hotels, etc.

One last comment: There is nudity in this film, but It adds to the story of the film, justifying why some of the characters do what they do.

Besides the great performances by the two leads, portraying antagonists with similar world-views while on different sides of the law, I especially liked the permeating atmosphere of Japan that came through with the cinematography, the soundtrack, and the scene set-ups. The final scene culminated the film's strong reminder of the almost unpleasant yet intense fascination I often felt in the urban environments of Japan in the late 80's and early 90's. "That," I thought of the movie when it was over, "after setting aside all the comic exaggeration, is the real Japan." Like the movie "Shall We Dance?", it clearly showed a true aspect of Japan.
